I've played mech games my entire life, but only recently did I realize I was trying to make them into something they were not intended to be. The fastest mech games don't feel much different than any other shooter, and mechs should not feel like any other soldier. A few years ago when I had the chance to play an alpha version, Battletech slowed everything down for me and taught me to appreciate the metal.

The full release of Battletech in 2018 clanked and exploded in a beautiful love affair. I'm not sure I could handle the stress if the game wasn't turn based. Reread that. I want Battletech to slow down even further, but at that point I think it becomes mech porn so maybe it's fine. There are plenty of satisfying victory explosions as is. Thanks for your big burly metal arms, Battletech.
