Immunity from criticism. Immunity from economics. Immunity from trends. Black Ops has always been my weak point in the modern Call of Duty series. The promise of a definitive battle royale experience was too much for me to avoid. It held up its promise because there's no other battle royale I'd rather play than Blackout.
After years of accepting early access bugs and supporting ambitious but small studios, returning to a large studio FPS game feels like the exception in my gaming diet lately. I had forgotten where the bar was, but everything about Black Ops 4 is smooth and polished. I couldn't be worse at the game, but somehow my almost-kills felt fun like the real thing. Thanks for the flex, Blackout.
