While not the very first card-based game I’ve played, it was definitely the most macabre. Deciding whether to earn funds in order to build my cult or deal with hunger while I float around the underbelly of the astral plane was a new kind of if/then for me. However, having come from the founder of my favorite purveyor of weird, Failbetter Games, I had to give it a try. Alexis Kennedy didn’t disappoint, as I skulked in the shadows, sacrificing cultists to lead hunters astray and sought out forbidden knowledge in my off hours.
Thanks for letting me dream of dead cities and elder gods too horrifying to contemplate, Cultist Simulator.
